Set in 14 acres of landscaped gardens, the Anantara has 162 rooms and suites, each with a balcony overlooking either the gardens or the beach. Rates vary widely depending on accommodation and time of year. A garden-view room costs 5,000 Baht and goes to 7,500 over the Christmas holidays. The one-bedroom suites cost as much as 16,500 Baht for that same holiday period. Great beachfront location, free-form swimming pool and sumptuous spa. The Anantara hosts the annual elephant-polo tournament. For more information about this wonderful contest look under Festivals & Events, page 127.
